Haley’s Hope was founded to change the story for children and adults with dyslexia. What began as one family’s search for answers has grown into the region’s first and only specialized dyslexia learning center.

Our Story
When Kari Bucholz’s son, Haley, began falling behind in school, she searched everywhere for help. Despite his intelligence, Haley struggled with reading, spelling, tying his shoes, and even telling left from right. After years of frustration, Kari discovered the word that changed everything: dyslexia.
Determined to help her son, Kari immersed herself in research, training, and master-level courses to learn the most effective interventions. With perseverance and evidence-based instruction, Haley began to read, write, and thrive. His self-esteem returned, and his confidence grew with every milestone.
Today, Haley is a high school and college graduate, married to his lovely wife Minda, building his career, and pursuing new challenges. His journey inspired the creation of Haley’s Hope so that no family would feel alone facing dyslexia.
Our Founder
Kari Bucholz | Founder, Director & Dyslexia Specialist
Originally trained as an interior designer, Kari’s true calling emerged when she became her son’s strongest advocate. She has since dedicated her career to helping others with dyslexia unlock their potential. For over 14 years, Kari has led Haley’s Hope with passion, expertise, and a deep understanding that comes from lived experience.
